A Condom is a type of barrier contraceptive device made of thin latex or polyurethane material that is worn over the penis (male condom) or inserted into the vagina (female condom) during sexual intercourse. It acts as a physical barrier, vagina fluids, ang blood, between sexual partners. Condoms are designed to prevent unintended pregnancies and reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) by blocking the transmission of sperm, bacteria, and viruses.
Male Condom
Male condoms are typically made of latex and are available in various sizes and styles, including lubricated, non-lubricated, yextured, and flavored options. They are unrolled onto an erect penis before intercourse. Male condoms are wiely accesible and highly effective when used correctly and consistently.
Using male condoms correctly:
Check the expiration date: Before using the a male condom, Check the expiration date printed on the packaging. Expired condoms may be less effetive or more prone to breakage.
Open the package carefully: Open the cndom package carefully to avoid tearing the condom with your nails or any sharp objects.
Determine the correct side: Unroll the condom slightly to determine which side should be facing outward. The rolled rim should be on the outside.
Pinch the tip: Pinch the tip of the condom to leave a small space at the end. This space is important to collect semen and prevent the condom from bursting.
Roll it on: Place the rolled rim of the condom over the tip of the erect penis. Use your other hand to roll the condom down the shaft of the penis until it reaches the base.
Smooth out air bubbles: While holding the base of the condom, check for any air bubbles inside. If you find air bubbles, gently squeeze them out to ensure a snug fit.
During intercourse: make sure to keep the condom in place during intercourse. If condom slips off or become loose, stop and replace it with a new one. Use water-based lubricants if needed, as oil-based lubricants can damage latex condoms.
After ejaculation: After ejaculation and before the penis becomes flaccid, hold the base of the condom and carefully withdraw the penis from the partner's body. This helps prevent the condom from slipping off.
Dispose of properly: wrap the used condom in tissue or a wrapper and dispose of it in a trash can. Do not flush it down the toilet.
Female condom
Female condoms, also known as internal condoms, are larger, flexible pouches made of polyurethane or nitrile. They have two rings, one at the closed end that is inserted into the vagina and covers the cervix, and the other at the open end that remains outside the vagina, covering the external genitalia. Female condoms provide an alternative option for individuals who prefer or need to take control of their own protection.
Using female condoms correctly:
Check the expiration date: Before using the female condom, check the expiration date on the package to ensure it is still valid.
Find a comfortable position: Choose a position that is comfortable for insertion. This can be standing with one foot on a chair, squatting, or lying down.
Hold the condom correctly: Hold the condom between your thumb and middle finger at the closed end. Make sure the inner ring is at the bottom.
Squeeze the inner ring: Use your other hand to squeeze the inner ring with your index finger and thumb, making it long and narrow.
Insertion: While holding the squeezed inner ring, insert it into the vagina. Push it in as far as it will go, ensurng that the outer ring remains outside the body.
Adjust the condom: After insertion, use your finger to push the inner ring up to the cervix. The outer ring should remain outside the vagina, covering the opening.
During intercourse: When your partner's penis enters, the penis will be inside the condom, providing protection against pregnancy and STIs.
After intercourse: After intercourse, gently twist the outer ring and pull it out of the vagina. Dispose of the used condom in a trash can. Do not flush it down the toilet.
Remember, practice and familiarity can help improve condoms use. It's important to use new condom for each sexual encounter and to follow these steps carefully to ensure proper protection.
!!!
The male and female condoms should noy be used at the same time because friction can break them, make them stick together, or make one or the other slip out of place during intercourse.
